RAF Kenley is a small airfield owned by the MoD and is used mainly for Glider flying with a Common nearby that can be freely used.
This year has been so busy I have not had the chance to go to any airshows, so when I heard they were holding one locally, I was intrigued. It did not have any of the major attractions that appear at other airshows, but it did have the opportunity to get up close to a variety of planes as well as see a few you may not normally see.
Being honest, it was not so much an airshow as an open day, with a lot of local people and volunteer groups helping out with stands and a small fairground set up to entertain as well.
Of course it rained. Sometimes light and sometimes heavy but it did not dampen what seemed to be a good atmosphere of people enjoying themselves.
Apparently, it was the first Open Day they had run in several years. I hope they run it again next year with better weather, because I'm already looking forward to going.
So does anyone else have any good airshow stories?

I really liked it. It was a shame about the rain, but the models put a great display on even if the BBMF could not attend.
